To carry out an audiovisual production, first of all, it is necessary to create a strategic plan for each stage, either in a spreadsheet or using tools such as Kanban (BOEG, 2010 to control production flows.

The first step is to define what the topic will be addressed, the format: short, feature, series, digital, documentary, etc. Think about the means of transmission (VoD – Video On Demand, streaming, cinema, TV, Youtube, etc) and the target audience, the “objective of the product”, define the language that will be used and the type of production: fiction , journalistic, advertising, commercial, etc.

Two professionals are essential from the beginning to the end of the production process, the producer and the executive producer. The main professional is the producer, the general manager, who will coordinate all areas of the project development process until completion, managing all departments, such as direction, image, art , sound, editing and executive production.

It is necessary to define the script and duration time, how many pages (1 page = 30” in advertising / 1 page = 1' in cinema), carry out production planning, define which professionals will manage each department and how many will be needed in their respective teams, where it will be recorded, etc.

"The executive producer will manage the financial part, define costs, be responsible for legal advice, insurance, press, financial management and other professionals who will take care of contracts, permits, taxes, salaries, leases and equipment, production licensing, marketing, logistics, distribution, information that needs to be in the spreadsheet. (Rodrigues 2002, page 84)

The executive producer will help define how the financing will be carried out, whether it will be a small, medium or large production, according to the available budget, he will analyze the market, the ROI - Return on Investment or return on investment and define profit expectation.

If the material is advertising or corporate, you need to know what your client's investment power is and what that client's expectations are, in order to align the type of production that will be possible to carry out.

If it is a film production (a short or feature film), documentary or streaming, for example, define whether it will be through direct funding (government, public notices, public selections, ANCINE – Agência Nacional do Cinema) or indirect funding (business , tax incentives through Rouanet Law Nº 8313/1991, Audiovisual Law Nº 8.685/1993 or Provisional Measure Law Nº 2.228-1/2001). In these cases, the topics need to address issues relevant to Brazilian culture and be in accordance with the requirements of the respective institutions. The FSA- Audiovisual Sectorial Fund is a development option, the BNDES- National Bank for Economic and Social Development also has funding, in addition to festivals and various awards for the audiovisual sector.

With the information in hand, it is possible to conclude a strategic planning (production and financial), define the costs, approve all the necessary documents and go to production, which goes through several stages such as filming, audio capture, reports of scenes, etc.

After production is completed, the post-production process begins (deproduction, editing, mixing, mastering, synchronization, marketing and distribution).

With the finished material in hand, within the stipulated period and budget, it is essential to carry out the correct indicative classification (CLASSIND) according to official criteria, to guarantee the correct exhibition of the audiovisual product. (ROMÃO; CANELA; ALARCON, 2016).
